About Us

Corby Radio arrived on 96.3 FM on December 5th, 2009 to provide a full-time community-focused radio station for the town –  broadcasting a varied mix of music, features, information and competitions.

However, the project to provide Corby with its own licensed radio station began in 1996, when Corbyite DJ and radio host Des Barber brought together a team of volunteers for a one-month FM broadcast under the name “Corby 108”. This came live from a makeshift studio in the foyer of the town centre’s Festival Hall and proved so popular that another broadcast was immediately planned for the following year.

In 1998 Corby Radio moved over to Neville House on George Street. Every annual broadcast for a month saw us support worthwhile causes in the community, like the Corby Kids Summer Camp Appeal which the team helped raise thousands of pounds for. In 2002 we were the official broadcaster of the Corby Pole Fair.

In 2007 we moved to The Connaughty Centre in Cottingham Road, with a training academy added to our studio complex. The idea was to give everyone, young and old, the chance to obtain basic radio skills, and we are proud that for the years it ran, the academy used teaching in broadcasting to help people gain valuable experience.

An online service began from here to give everyone a good run-up to going live on FM at the end of the 2000s. In the 2010s as well as our regular studio shows we made outside broadcasts live from a number of big community events in Corby such as the Carnival, Highland Gathering, the opening of the Corby Cube and the arrival of the Olympic Torch in town, an event station manager Des Barber was proud to take part in.

In 2012 we moved to an expanded studio space on Corporation Street and in 2014, Studio 1 there was re-named “The Andy Coupland Studio” in memory of our late colleague and friend.

2019 and 2020 saw us on the move again to Caldan House near Studfall Avenue shops. The pandemic was soon upon us but Corby Radio’s service continued and this effort was acknowledged with an award from the Corby and District Lions Club.

in 2024 we moved into our new studio at the Stewart And Lloyds Football Club.
